Hidden away in one of the quieter streets of Seoul is a giant pink vending machine. Yes, you heard right, a giant pink vending machine. At first glance, you may think it looks a little out of place but you’ll soon realise that it is a front door which leads you into the quaint but the very aesthetically-pleasing café, Zapangi.
Filled with an abundance of bright pink neon lights and green plants, it is a great setting to have a drink with a friend or just chill and relax for a while, away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Seoul. It has a cool, cosy and almost refreshing vibe to it.
The selection of drinks and cakes is good. When you first enter the café, you will see a small fridge stocked with different drinks in cute milk bottles. If you are feeling a little more adventurous, you can always opt for one of their more fun drinks like a unicorn latte. Filled with creamy goodness, these types of drinks are certainly made for those will a strong sweet tooth.
Yet, if you are prefer something a bit less sweet but a bit more refreshing, then don’t worry, Zapangi offers an amazing range of fruit flavoured sodas. We ordered the Appleade and the Cherryade, both full of fresh fruits, tasty and perfect the quench the thirst on a hot summer’s day.
In terms of food, Zapangi offers doughnuts and tin cakes. The cakes cost between ₩6,000-9,000. We tried the peach cake and it was delicious. I would highly recommend this one if you are someone who can appreciate a sweet treat but doesn’t want an overload of sugary goodness. The cakes are actually a relatively good size so you can even share one with a friend. They also had a mermaid, blueberry and cherry cake, so there was plenty of choice.
Everything on the menu was reasonably priced with everything on the menu costing under ₩10,000 (£6.86). The speciality drinks such as the sweet lattes did cost a bit more ranging from ₩7,500-9,500 (£4.80- £6.51) but this price is justified through the sheer size and toppings on the drinks themselves.
We went on a Friday morning around 11am and the café was completely empty. However, I have read that this café has the tendency to get quite busy quickly with people having to queue to get inside. If you are considering going to Zapangi, I would definitely go in the morning during a weekday. In addition to this, the staff are also super friendly and can speak English so language barriers are something you do need not to worry about here.
So if you are looking for a place which will not only satisfy your sugary cravings but can provide you with some gorgeous instagram pictures which will make all your friends jealous, then hurry over to the hidden secret which is Zapangi.
